Zeami Motokiyo (1334-1443) codified it all when he attracted the attention of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and was made a court favorite of the Kyoto elite. He then went on to elucidate the canon, the aesthetics, and theories of noh that have never been seriously challenged or bested. "Hana (the way of the flower)" has been the preferred training model since.
